Sandbar Club brings students together

We are excited to introduce The Sandbar Club, a new program that connects Calhoun High School juniors and seniors with students at Travis Middle School.
The Sandbar Club is formatted as student-to-student mentorship sessions that focus on positive role modeling by trained high school mentors. High School students are encouraged to connect with and support their middle school buddies as they grow socially, academically, and emotionally.
The Sandbar Club was a vision by Coach and Mrs. Hrncir to give the high school students a leadership opportunity, while also helping the middle school students feel supported by a buddy who cares about them. Just like sandbars are steady ground that raise the level for everyone around them, our Sandbar student participants hope to develop new friendships and also have some fun.The program is kicking off this week with ice breakers and games to help the students get to know one another. We look forward to hearing what participants think!
