Calhoun County ISD celebrates School Board Recognition Month

Posted Date: 01/20/26 (04:14 PM)

January is School Board Recognition Month, and Calhoun County ISD is celebrating its trustees for their leadership and commitment to the district’s 665 employees and 3352 students.

School board members serve in a volunteer capacity, without payment, and spend countless hours reviewing information to make the best possible decisions for the future success of our schools. It is a critically important role that requires an election and mandated training.

The Calhoun County ISD Board of Trustees is participating in the Texas Education Agency’s Lone Star Governance initiative to facilitate the district’s continuous improvement and maximize student outcomes. Board members are collaborating through the program’s framework to analyze data, define clear goals, and develop targeted action plans for improvement. Additionally, our local school board has supported procedures and funding to keep schools safe, while also addressing facility improvement projects, teacher retention strategies, and a variety of other high priority issues. Calhoun County ISD proudly employs outstanding educators and staff, including 54 teachers designated for high performance by the state and 3 teachers certified by the national board. Calhoun County ISD students consistently perform well at district and post-district events, including 19 consecutive district championships for the Calhoun High School Academic UIL team. Additionally, the Calhoun County ISD school board supports a robust career-training program to prepare young people for the jobs of the future.
Please join in celebrating School Board Recognition Month throughout the month of January. Take a moment to say thank you for the work school board members are doing on your behalf. Sincere appreciation is extended to the following Calhoun County ISD School Board members: Bill Shrader, President; Dominic Robles, Vice-President; Cynthia Alford, Secretary; Dana Dworaczyk; Vinson Phillips; Tyler McAfee; and Michael Williams.
