State law allows Texas public school students to obtain credit in a course by passing tests provided through approved organizations; this opportunity is referred to as "Credit by Examination" or CBE.

Students may complete a CBE for a course without prior instruction; to earn course credit by exam without prior instruction, the student must earn an 80 or above on the exam. Students may also complete a CBE for a course with prior instruction; to earn course credit by exam with prior instruction, the student must earn a 70 or above on the exam.

CBEs are rigorous and cover all Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills associated with the course. Students must dedicate time to study for these exams.

This year, CCISD is partnering with Region 3 Education Service Center in Victoria to administer CBEs. The online tests are developed and administered through UT High School. There are six summer dates available: June 16, 17, and 18 as well as July 14. 15, and 16. Tests are administered from 9am - 4pm at the Region 3 ESC Headquarters in Victoria.

Registration forms are available in the school counseling office. The deadline for registration is May 7, 2026 at 4 pm.  There are no fees or costs associated with CBE exam registration.
