This website offers a brief illustration of coverage offered through the Texas Kids First K-12 Student Accident Insurance Program. Texas Kids First offers plans for school districts, as well as individual insurance plans for families throughout Texas. These affordable, limited-benefit plans are designed to help offset deductibles and co-insurance. The policy issued will be the contract and will govern and control the payment of benefits.

At-School Accident Plan

Including Athletics
The Plan covers the participation in or attending of School-Sponsored Activities & Athletics while on or away from School premises during the regular School Term. It covers travel directly, uninterruptedly and under the direct supervision of a qualified adult School authority to or from a School-Sponsored activity in a designated vehicle furnished by the school.
This plan excludes coverage for summer school sports activities, the practice and playing of High School Varsity Football, and overnight activities.

At-School Accident Plan

No Athletics
This Plan provides the same coverage as the At-School Accident Plan including Athletics except it does not cover the participation in School-Sponsored or Non School organized Athletics.

This Plan provides the same coverage as the At-School Accident Plan plus 24-hour around the clock coverage (before school, after school, weekends, vacations, and summer school).
This plan excludes coverage for the practice and playing of High School Varsity Football.

No Athletics
This Plan provides the same coverage as the At-School Accident Plan including Athletics except it does not cover the participation in School-Sponsored or Non School organized Athletics.

Football

Accident Plan
The Plan covers any student practicing with or playing on the High School Varsity Football team during the regular School Term. The Plan provides coverage for both fall and spring semesters. It covers travel directly, uninterruptedly and under the direct supervision of a qualified adult School authority to or from a School-Sponsored Varsity Football activity in a designated vehicle furnished by the school.
This Plan excludes coverage for off-season football scrimmages.
The Football Accident plan has the same Schedule of Benefits as the At-School and 24 Hour insurance except for the deductible which is $250 per injury. The plan is available to only those students enrolled in a school district insured with Texas Kids First.

The Texas Kids First program, marketed and managed by Legend Insurance Agency LLC, consists of experienced student accident insurance industry professionals and currently insures more than 350 school districts in Texas. The plans are administered by Universal Fidelity Life Insurance Company, which was founded in 1935.

The unique team making up Texas Kids First is comprised of professionals with backgrounds in Business, Finance, School Administration, and Coaching. The agents for Texas Kids First have been serving Texas school districts since 1980. Our agents represent the preeminent and largest group of student accident insurance agents in Texas, having written the most premium in the state of Texas for a number of years.

The mission of Texas Kids First is to provide the finest, most affordable insurance coverage available to all school-age children. For parents and school districts, we offer accident-only plans to insure students for injuries that occur while participating in school-sponsored activities and athletics.

Texas Kids First has unique access to one of the most creative innovations in the insurance industry: The Texas Kids First Provider Network. The network consists of medical professionals and hospitals that have agreed to treat injured students from our insured districts for the services paid and outlined in the Schedule of Benefits of the Texas Kids First Student Accident Plans.
