.Calhoun High School recently hosted a signing event to celebrate and recognize four CHS students that were selected to participate in the upcoming 2022 – 2023 Project SEARCH internship program at Dow Seadrift Operations. These events kicked off a second year of partnership between Dow’s Seadrift Operations, Calhoun County ISD, Victoria ISD, Texas Work Force Commission, Quest Employment Services, and Project Search.

Congratulations to Kayla Rieger, Jerry Aleman, Joeclyn Tijerina, and Austin Cameron for being selected for this opportunity.

“The Project Search program at Dow is making a difference in CCISD,” said Larry W. Nichols, Calhoun County ISD Superintendent. “The enthusiasm of the students, the Dow sponsors, and the CCISD staff was evident during the recent onboarding event. CCISD is pleased that we can partner with Dow to provide real world experiences for our students.”

Dow’s Seadrift Operations is proud to be a champion for a fully inclusive workforce as a host business for Project Search. The high school students accepted for this program will be placed in various job roles around the facility with a trained supervisor to guide them through their job training. The goal is to graduate all the interns from the program with quality job experience that will help them gain employment following graduation. Interns will start their internship at Dow in August 2022. Project Search has been implemented in other Dow facilities across the United States.

“Dow’s Seadrift Operations and our community took a meaningful step forward in inclusion with our partnership through Project Search” said Lauren Welch, TES Director at Dow Seadrift Operations. “The interns are contributing and inspiring our teams as they grow through this immersive workplace learning experience.”
