January is School Board Recognition Month, and Calhoun County ISD is celebrating its trustees for their dedication and commitment to the district and its students.
The Calhoun County ISD School Board provides strong and consistent leadership to the district’s 621 employees and 3487 students. School board members serve in a volunteer capacity, without payment, and spend countless hours reviewing information to make the best possible decisions for the future success of our schools. Serving on the board is a critically important role that requires an election and mandated training. It is an important responsibility that helps guide the future of education.
With an intense focus on continuous improvement and maximizing student outcomes, the Calhoun County ISD Board of Trustees has elected to participate in the Texas Education Agency’s Lone Star Governance initiative. Board members are collaborating through the program’s framework to analyze data, define clear goals, and develop targeted action plans for improvement. Additionally, our local school board has supported procedures and funding to keep schools safe, while also addressing facility improvement projects, teacher retention strategies, and a variety of other high priority issues.
Please join in celebrating School Board Recognition Month throughout the month of January. Take a moment to say thank you for the work school board members are doing on your behalf. Sincere appreciation is extended to the following Calhoun County ISD School Board members: Bill Shrader, President; Lori Leal, Vice President; Cynthia Alford, Secretary; Rene Flores; David Gaskamp; Vinson Phillips; and Dominic Robles.
