In keeping with district practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all students, staff and guests that three Calhoun High School students have tested positive for COVID-19. Two were on campus last week and one was on campus 02/08/2021. * The nurse reports that COVID symptoms can be very similar to seasonal allergy symptoms. This week, CHS has experienced an increase in the number of positive COVID-19 cases. Some individuals have experienced allergy-like symptoms and others experienced no symptoms at all prior to a positive test.

Please carefully monitor for COVID symptoms and stay at home when symptoms emerge. A number of students and staff have tested positive or are at home in quarantine as a precaution.

The safety of our students and staff continues to be our primary goal. We will take steps to slow the spread of COVID-19. Until further notice, the weight room will be closed for ten days to reduce the interaction among groups. We will also ask that students and staff in impacted programs voluntarily participate in the free and non-invasive COVID testing.

In order to keep CHS open for Face to Face instruction, we must make every effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. At this time, we plan to remain open. If the number of cases continues to increase, additional steps may be needed in targeted areas.

For now, all students and staff will wear masks, wash hands and socially distance as much as possible. Teachers in quarantine will maintain a Google classroom and remote into the class as they are able. Students who are remote learning must log in every day to be counted as present and productive.

If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to through the CHS main office at: 361-552-3775.
