Mr reeves from Allied waste out of corpus Christi, came to visit with the G3 students. They are the ones who do the waste collection for Calhoun county. Mr. Reeves presented a program on recycling and what products his company accepts in their recycling program. All were encouraged to begin or continue their recycling program both at home and at school. Mr reeves is hopeful that Calhoun county will begin a single stream recycling program for the city of port lavaca in the near future. Single stream recycling means that all recyclable materials would be able to be collected in the same container, instead of having to separate items as we do now, making recycling even easier for the general public.
G3 is going to present a proposal before the city council on February 13, requesting that curb side recycling be implemented in our city. The information that mr reeves gave the group will aid g3 in their quest.
