8th Travis Black 22 Vs. Howell 0
The Travis Black team played their best overall game of the year Tuesday night while recording their 3rd straight win on the year. Several players contributed offensively on the night. Quarterback B.J. DeLeon ran the offense and had runs of 10, 7, and 6 yards to start the opening drive. Brandon Williams would eventually run it in for the score from 15 yards to give the Fiddlers and early lead. Erick Lopez was the defensive player of the night. Three out of his five tackles on the night were for a loss. Lopez also forced a fumble that was recovered by the Fiddlers in the 2nd quarter. This would give Travis excellent field position on offense and it didn’t take much time for the black team to score again when Brandon Williams scored his second touchdown of the night with a 20 yard run. Nelse Hypolite would punch it in for the 2 point conversion and give the Fiddlers a 14-0 halftime lead. Travis continued to successfully run the ball in the second half. Miguel Molina had runs of 20, 15, and 12 yards. Hypolite followed up with runs of 8 and 10 yards. Michael Gordon would cap off the night offensively with an impressive 18 yard touchdown run. Along with Erick Lopez, Mario Mendoza, Brandon Williams, and Chris Aguilar were the defensive standouts on the night. The Travis black team continues to improve and their record is 3-1-1 on the season.
8th Travis Gold 8 Vs. Howell 22
The Travis Gold team was inconsistent on both sides of the ball Tuesday night and the result was an 8-22 loss. Early in the 1st quarter, quarterback Raheem Jones took over for an injured Matthew Lerma. Jones was poised and ran the offense very well. He had several nice runs and 3 that resulted in big first downs for the offense. Although the offense was able to work the ball down the field in the first half but mistakes would come at crucial times that would stall out the drives. Late in the second quarter Andrew Holsey broke a 17 yard run for a touchdown. Jones would run in the 2 point conversion making the score 8-16 Howell at the half. Travis played with great effort in the second half but once again some mental mistakes would cost the Fiddlers. J.C. Garcia had good kickoff returns and one long run of 20 yards. The boys play extremely hard and do everything that is asked of them by the coaches. Most of them play on offense and then turn right around and play on the defensive side of the ball. They will continue to work and improve on their season.
