Fiddler Football vs Stroman

Travis 7th Gold vs Stroman

The Fiddlers got off to a quick start Tuesday night at Sandcrab stadium, behind a physical offensive line and a hard-running backfield trio of Wally Reyes, Christian Baldera, and Gabe Ramirez. Wally Reyes made the score 6-0 on a 20 yd touchdown run mid-way through the first quarter. The 2 pt conversion was followed on a keeper by Dallas Trevino making the score 8-0. In the second quarter Wally Reyes added another touchdown run pushing the Fiddlers lead to 14-0, before Dallas Trevino again followed with the conversion. The Fiddlers played stout defense all night and led 16-0 at the half. The Fiddlers quickly got on the scoreboard again after Wally Reyes took the ensuing kickoff 75 yds pushing the score to 22-0. Gabe Ramirez gashed the Vipers all night on tough runs up the middle. The Fiddlers added a final touchdown and conversion in the final frame to push the score to 30-0. The conversion was run in by Noah Bonuz. The entire defense played an excellent game in collecting their first shutout of the season. This was a totally new team than the one that showed up for the first game of the season and I expect us to do nothing but improve every week.

Offensive Standouts: The entire offensive line, and Bonuz and Trevino did a great job directing the offense all night.

Defensive Standouts: Davin Vasquez, Matt Alvarado, Javi Pena. The defense had several big hits on the evening.

7th Grade Black Team vs. Victoria Stroman

Our Fiddler black team came into the night in search of a 2-0 record. After 24 minutes of action, that’s exactly what they found in an 18-6 victory over Stroman. Fernando Almaraz ended the first drive of the game with a 60 yard punt to pin the Vipers deep in their own territory. Defense followed up with a big hold and a key third down stop by Dylan Byrd. A few carries by Seth Flores and a touchdown and extra point by Isaiah Falcon and the Fiddlers were up 8-0 in the second quarter. 8-0 at the half.

Fernando Almaraz started off the second half with a kickoff into the end-zone leaving the Vipers with a lot of field to cover. Two sacks by Dylan Byrd and a third by Ric Clifton that resulted in a safety and the Fiddlers were back on offense again. In the 4th quarter, Casey Dean completed a half-back pass to Alex Garza. Joey Barrett followed with a few big runs and eventually found the end-zone. After Dylan Byrd’s two point conversion the score was 18-6 and that score would last until the clock ran out. Final 18-6.

The Fiddler Black team is 2-0 on the season!

Travis Gold 24 Vs. Stroman 8

The Travis 8th grade gold team had an offensive explosion Tuesday night putting up over 250 yards rushing and scoring 24 points. Adrian Mendoza started off the big night with runs of 5, 10, and 16 yards. J.C. Garcia started his night with runs of 20, and 18 yards on the opening drive. The offense then came up with a Touchdown when J.C. Garcia ran it in from 16 yards. Matthew Lerma ran in the 2pt conversion to make it 8-0 Travis. The defense also came up big on the night by holding Stroman scoreless in the first half. Adrian Mendoza and Stetson Dierlam each had 2 tackles for a loss. J.C. Garcia also had an interception and 2 tackles. It was déjà vu to start the second half with Mendoza and Garcia coming up with several more long runs on the opening drive.   Mendoza ran it in for Travis’ second score of the night and Andrew Holsey ran in the 2pt conversion to make the score 16-0. A misshape on special teams cost the Fiddlers is only points given up on the night when Stroman ran back the kickoff to make it 16-8. On the very next drive for Travis Matthew Lerma came up with a huge momentum stopper by running for a 58 yard run, and on the very next play running it in for a 2 yard touchdown. Andrew Holsey added the 2pt conversion for the final score of the night and making the final score Travis 24, Stroman 8.

Travis Black 0 Vs. Stroman 0

The Travis black team played a hard fought game Tuesday night that resulted in a tie 0-0. The Defense played stellar all night with several players coming up with tackles for a loss.
