Coach’s thoughts/Quotes: I was proud of the boys for opening their season with a win. It was a sloppy game with a lot of mistakes but we overcame them and got the victory. Brevin did a great job at quarterbacking the offense and Will Grubert was a rock down low defensively. I’m excited to see where this team will end up after we have more time to practice.

The 8th grade B team hosted the Cade Bulldogs at Sandcrab Stadium on Tuesday evening. Offensively, the Fiddlers started out slow and struggled to get much going. The defense would be the standouts of the game as Linebackers Gunner Moore, Jordan Dworacyzk, and Joe Quintanilla came up with big sacks, tackles for a loss, and forced fumbles to keep the Fiddlers in the game. A big 4th quarter Interception by Safety Larry Johnson would allow the Fiddlers to get back in the game only down 8-0 with 5 minutes to go. A game ending drive set up by QB Logan Evans and RB Andrew Martinez would get the Fiddlers down to the 20 but the time ran out and the Fiddlers would fall 8-0 to Cade. The Fiddlers finish the year 3-3-1 on the season and 5-1 in district play and will continue to work hard in the offseason as they look forward to becoming Sandcrabs next season!
The 8th grade A team hosted the Cade Bulldogs at Sandcrab Stadiumon Tuesdayevening. Offensively, the Fiddlers started strong with good hard running by RB Chris Benavides, QB Andrew Ybarra, and FB James Grantland. Thanks to the outstanding OL run blocking efforts led by Leo Madera, David Fernandez, Thomas Chavez, Noah Lento, and Brandon Caldera, the Fiddler Offense had no trouble controlling the clock and grinding away on the Cade Bulldog Defense all night long. Fiddler Defensive standouts included Linebackers Reed Cantu, James Grantland, Ricky Dudley, and Jose Mendoza all with multiple tackles throughout the game. Defensive Linemen Ray Martinez and Thomas Chavez also lived in the Cade backfield all night with multiple sacks and tackles for a loss. Safety's Will Swope and Sergio Zavala also played well against the pass, batting down multiple passes and nearly picking off a few of them. RB Chris Benavides led the Fiddlers with all 3 TD's and threw a 2 point conversion to WR Jaylen Stewart and QB Andrew Ybarra would add the other 2 point conversion as the Fiddler Boys would win their season finale 22-6. The Fiddler boys finish their season 3-4 overall and 3-2 in district. The boys will now look to work hard in the offseason and improve as they move on to their freshmen year as Sandcrabs!
The 7th grade B team traveled to El Campo on Tuesday to take on the Ricebirds. It was hard fought effort on both sides of the ball but ultimately the fiddlers suffered their first loss of the season, 19-12. The fiddlers were led by Dekyn Garcia who scored a 33 yard touchdown on a reverse and also returned a kickoff 52 yards to claim both fiddler touchdowns. Defensively the fiddlers were led by the efforts of Devin Podsim and Adrian Canchola who both had good tackles and tackles for loss. Fortunately the loss does not count against their district record and the fiddlers can still claim the district championship with a win over Cade in their season finalenext Tuesday at Sandcrab stadium.
The 8th grade B team hosted the Seadrift Pirates at Sandcrab Stadium on Tuesday evening. Offensively, the Fiddlers started out fast with excellent running by RB Chris Torres, QB Gunner Moore, and RB Logan Evans. QB Gunner Moore would find TE Marshall Arlitt open on a catch that would result in a 40 yard gain and put the offense at the Seadrift 20 yard line. The Fiddler offense would be stalled however, and fail to convert the opening drive for a score. The game ended up a defensive struggle for the rest of the game with neither team being able to convert any drives into scores. Defensively, the Fiddler standouts included OLB Sebastian Rios with a pair of Sacks and DL Mitchell Arlitt, DL Craig Lopez, and DL Miguel Valadez all with Tackles for a Loss. A BIG defensive stand in the 4th quarter by the Fiddlers with the game still at 0-0, allowed the Fiddlers offense to get a game winning drive going with long runs by RB Larry Johnson and QB Logan Evans. The Fiddler offense just came up short however, as the time ran out on the Fiddlers before they could punch it in for the win. The final was a 0-0 Tie against Seadrift. The Fiddlers are now 3-3 on the season and 3-1 in district play and will come out next week as they look for their 4th win on the year against Cade in a season ending rematch at Sandcrab Stadiumnext Tuesday at 6:00. It is the last game of the season for the boys and last as a Fiddler before they will move on to their high school careers so come on out and support our Fiddler boys!

Thomas Chavez pounced on a fumble late in the game to give Travis a chance for a game winning drive. The fiddlers will conclude their season Tuesday night against Cade at Sandcrab stadium.
