The fabulous Jackson-Roosevelt PTA honored the boy and girl from each grade with the highest AR points by taking them for a limousine ride. Students traveled in style to Dairy Queen for a sweet treat after stopping by Central Office for special recognition. PTA will also be hosting an AR store for any students who have earned AR points so far this year.

JR Students were treated to an author visit from Dr. Patty Shafer. Dr. Shafer grew up in Calhoun County and worked for the school district for many years. After retiring from education, she began to write stories about her dog, Annie. "Annie the Texas Ranch Dog" series is based on a half-starved Pit Bull Mix that wandered up to the author's ranch and became a member of their family. Students loved listening to true stories about Annie and watching videos of her.

As I got closer I realized that it was a Killdeer pair and that they were protecting their eggs from the large group of first graders playing near by.
