Calhoun High School
Welcome to the website of Calhoun High School – Home of the Sandcrab Nation! As principal of CHS, I want to share with you what makes this campus the shining star of the Golden Crescent.
Calhoun High School serves over 1,150 students with a faculty & staff of 116. We serve students across the entire county of Calhoun. Students live in Port Lavaca, Port O’Connor, Seadrift, Point Comfort, Olivia, and Port Alto, amongst other areas within the county. Athletically and academically, Calhoun High School has many accolades in which we are all very proud.
Calhoun High School is now the seven-peat UiL Academic Champion of our class 30-4A district! We are also the State Math champs of Texas for the fifth time in the last six years! Our EOC / TAKS scores are consistently the highest in the Golden Crescent and always above the state average. We offer many courses ranging from Advanced Placement (AP) classes, robotics, dual-credit classes per Victoria College, and advanced welding to name just a few. The last graduating class earned $1.7 million in scholarships to institutions across our great nation. Athletically, we are consistently in the playoffs for football, basketball, softball, and many other sports. This last season, all sports made the playoffs and beyond! Our Sandies are State Powerlifting Champs for seven years straight! Our Choir has been sweepstake champs for 29 plus years. And our Band programs are consistently sweepstake winners. This is a small testament to our dedication to competition and our winning attitude whether it is on the field, court, or classroom!
