Background
Calhoun County has five major industrial complexes within its boundaries. This unique situation provides an opportunity to the public school system for supplementary human resource and financial assistance. In addition, considerable resource potential is available from other smaller businesses and community member support. Partners in Education is an organization intended to a handclasp between business, the community, and the school system. P.I.E. was originally formed in 1992.

The P.I.E. Steering Committee benchmarks best educational practices and instigates initiatives to improve student academic performance. It encourages the participation of a large cross section of community persons with the school system. The Steering Committee also monitors various measurements to assure that the school process produces continual sustainable quality improvement. Finally, this group serves as a focal point in matching “special” requests of school campuses to the various partners.
