Rattlesnake removed from Seadrift School classroom
Posted on 10/11/2017

A class of Pre-K students were evacuated from their classroom Wednesday afternoon after a 15-inch rattlesnake (one button) was discovered in the room. The snake was promptly removed. There were no injuries.

School officials searched the classroom and the rest of the campus to confirm the facility is safe and clear. Snake repellant material was applied to the building perimeter. All outside weep holes/openings are being reinforced to prevent further intrusion. Students and staff are encouraged to be extra alert this season while snakes tend to be more active.  Questions concerning this situation can be directed to the Seadrift School office.

Calhoun County ISD’s top priority is the safety and security of our students, staff and community.
