Due to school facility closures related COVID-19 concerns, Texas received approval from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to provide more than $1 billion in pandemic food benefits to families with children that have temporarily lost access to free or reduced-price school meals.

Pandemic Electronic Benefit Transfer (P-EBT) provides eligible families with a one-time payment of $285 for each child who previously received free or reduced-price meals. P-EBT works the same way Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits do and will help families get the food they need during the current pandemic.

Families can apply for these benefits through the Health and Humans Services or through an online application. This application will not be available until June 1. Please be on the lookout for the link via the district website, social messenger and social media. Applications will NOT be available at the schools or district office. Families currently on SNAP will receive benefits on their existing SNAP card automatically. No action is needed.

Once Calhoun County ISD has received the link to apply we will be sharing it with our families. The application will open June 1, 2020 and close on June 30, 2020. Once the application is processed and verified, eligible families will receive a P-EBT card in the mail.
