The Texas Education Agency recently-announced that Calhoun County ISD’s HJM Elementary earned all distinction designations applicable to their school, per the 2018 state accountability system.

HJM Elementary is one of about 400 schools in the state of Texas receiving this special recognition for achieving both a Met Standard rating this year and also earning all possible distinctions. This is HJM Elementary’s second, consecutive year to be recognized for this honor.

The 2018 state accountability system provides up to seven distinction designations that can be earned for: Academic Achievement in English Language Arts/Reading; Academic Achievement in Mathematics; Academic Achievement in Science; Academic Achievement in Social Studies; Top 25 Percent: Comparative Academic Growth; Top 25 Percent: Comparative Closing the Gaps; and Postsecondary Readiness.

Distinction designations are awarded to campuses based on achievement in performance indicators relative to a group of 40 campuses of similar type, size, and student demographics. Depending on campus grade levels and type, the number of potential distinction designations can vary.
