Calhoun County shares information about disaster food assistance

.Calhoun County Emergency Management has provided the following information to the community:

The Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) will begin offering disaster food assistance, commonly known as D-SNAP in Calhoun County beginning this Monday, September 18.  Benefits will be offered for seven days and applicants must follow these instructions also listed below.  Please see HHSC’s website for additional information regarding the D-SNAP program: https://hhs.texas.gov/services/financial/disaster-assistance/disaster-snap

Applicants must apply for D-SNAP in their county of residence on certain days depending on the first letter of their last name. Residents in Calhoun County may only apply for D-SNAP between Sept. 18 and Sept. 24. The D-SNAP office location for Calhoun County is 400 Tiney Browning Blvd. (Walmart parking lot, HHS Mobile Site), Port Lavaca, TX. Offices will be open daily from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
