The stage is set for the Calhoun County District Spelling Bee Competition!

22 students will demonstrate their remarkable spelling skills on Wednesday, February 17th at the Travis Middle School Auditorium. Two co-champions will be recognized, and these two spellers will represent Calhoun County at the 27th Regional Spelling Bee in Victoria on March 22. The Regional Spelling Bee Champion qualifies for participation in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C.

HJM Elementary will be represented by William Boehl, Erin Gilmore, Aleeya Phillips, Seth Sandberg, Tammy Zhang, and Cayden Herren (alternate). The spellers for JR Elementary will be John Arnim, Kashney Cantu, Alexis Chandler, Talea Schumaker, Audrey Winemiller, and Kaylee Ramirez (alternate).  Spelling for Our Lady of the Gulf Catholic School will be Erin Dent, Stella Motl, and Jenny Pham (alternate). Port O’Connor’s spellers will be Alexandra Mallory, Gage Spencer, and Annabelle Thurman (alternate). Representing Seadrift School will be Eda Gilliland, Layla Myers, Morgan Sanders, and Creasie Gohlke (alternate). The Travis Middle School spellers will be Gigi Cheng, Anne Liu, Zoey Lu, Sergio Morales, Hannah Sun, and Heaven Martin (alternate).
