CHS locks down for 20 minutes as a precautionary measure
Posted on 12/12/2016

As a precautionary measure, Calhoun High School went into lockdown on December 12 for approximately 20 minutes due to a bomb threat at a nearby merchant. The threat did not involve Calhoun High School or any Calhoun County ISD campus. The lockdown was designed to keep students inside the school buildings until an all clear had been issued by the Port Lavaca Police Department. Notification was provided to the public on the CHS Facebook page and though the campus’s Remind system.

“This precautionary security measure is an example of Calhoun County ISD’s commitment to the safety and security of our students, staff and community,” said Dr. James Cowley, Superintendent of Schools. “We appreciate the prompt response and cooperation by PLPD.”
