Author, illustrator and storyteller Steven Kellogg will bring his beloved characters to life for students and staff at Calhoun County ISD (CCISD), October 19 - 20.

CCISD elementary campuses are hosting Kellogg to celebrate literacy and create excitement about reading.

During his presentation, Kellogg is expected to talk about his childhood and how he came to be an author and illustrator of more than 100 books. Kellogg also provides insight into the personalities and character development of several of his book’s protagonists, such as family-favorite, Pinkerton, the Great Dane.

He will also recite and illustrate one of his popular children’s books in front of his live audiences.

“We are very excited to host Mr. Kellogg at CCISD,” said Dr. James Cowley, Superintendent. “I feel like his presentation will be a memorable experience for our students and staff.”

“To kick-off our Visiting Author Program with such an exciting author illustrator is a great kick-off to this program,” he added.

Additionally, every elementary student at CCISD will receive a personalized and autographed copy of a Kellogg book to take home as a gift from the campus Parent Teacher Organizations (PTO) and other sources.

“We appreciate our PTOs for purchasing thousands of books so every student will have their own copy to take home and enjoy for years to come,” Cowley said.
