In keeping with district practices to respond to COVID-19, we are notifying all students, staff and guests that a symptomatic HJM student has tested positive for COVID-19. The student was last on the HJM campus on Thursday, 12/3/2020. The campus administration and nurse conducted a thorough investigation and notified any “close contacts” on 12/7/2020. Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual or details that may identify him or her. The school was thoroughly cleaned and sanitized over the weekend as a precaution.
Please stay at home if a student/ family member has symptoms for COVID 19. Also, if a student or any individual in the home is waiting on COVID test results, please stay at home. Any of the following symptoms may indicate a possible COVID-19 infection. If a student has any of these symptoms, please keep them at home and call the school nurse.
Feeling feverish or a measured temperature greater than or equal to 100.0 degrees Fahrenheit

Fatigue

Cough, or Difficulty breathing or, Shortness of breath
|
Headache
|
Chills or shaking or exaggerated shivering
|
Diarrhea, or Vomiting, or Abdominal pain
|
Loss of taste or smell
|
Significant muscle pain or ache

Congestion or runny nose, or sore throat

A new Education Task Force has been created to provide guidance for schools in cases such as these. The Bexar County Region 8 public health authority will conduct an investigation by making contact with the individual and any “close contacts”.
Region 8 phone calls will have a (210) area code. If a student or household member begins to experience any of these symptoms in a way that is not typical, we encourage you to contact your physician. We encourage students, staff or family members connected with HJM Elementary to please notify the school if a household member is lab-confirmed to have COVID-19.
